    Biography

    Professor Guillermo Aguilar received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1993, and his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995 and 1999, respectively.

    Research Area

    Professor Aguilar’s research focuses on the experimental and numerical modeling of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and thermal processes relevant to biomedical optics, medical lasers and cryogen cooling. This includes the combined use of spray cooling and laser irradiation for dermatologic therapies, cartilage reshaping, and cryosurgery among others.
