    Biography

    Carole-Anne Tyler (B.A. Williams; M.A., Creative Writing, Ph.D., English, Brown) has a book forthcoming from Routledge, Female Impersonation, for which she was awarded an American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship in 1991. Recent essays include "Death Masks," in Rrose Is a Rrose Is a Rrose, the catalog for a Guggenheim Museum exhibition on gender performance in photography (1997), "Passing: Narcissism, Identity, and Difference," in differences 6:2-3 (1994), and "Boys Will Be Girls: The Politics of Gay Drag," in Inside/Out: Lesbian Theories Gay Theories, ed. Diana Fuss (1991). Her teaching and research interests include gender and sexuality, literary theory, cultural studies (particularly film and visual culture), and 20th-Century fiction. She is currently the Associate Director of the Center for Ideas and Society at UC Riverside.
