    Biography

    Carole-Anne Tyler (B.A. Williams; M.A., Creative Writing, Ph.D., English, Brown) has a book from Routledge (2003), Female Impersonation, which focuses on male and female female impersonation in fiction, film, television, popular non-fiction, and literary, cultural, psychoanalytic, feminist, and queer theories. She is currently at work on a book tentatively titled “Reading as a Woman” which explores the debates about feminine subjectivity from the early 1980s to the present. Among her published essays are "Boys Will Be Girls: The Politics of Gay Drag," in Inside/Out: Lesbian Theories, Gay Theories, and "Death Masks," in Rrose Is a Rrose Is a Rrose, the catalog for a Guggenheim exhibition on gender performance in photography. Her research interests include gender and sexuality, literary and cultural theory, film and visual culture, and modern and contemporary British and American fiction.
